During the last 70 years the co-workers of Czech Bird Ringing Centre gathered considerable amount of data on migratory birds occurring within the territory of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Recently, the data are being processed to evaluate invested effort and obtain particular results of ringing activity. These results should steer the future research in this field and are proposed for publication in form of a non-fiction book. The publication will comprise “General chapters” dealing with general topics in evolution, ecology and ethology of bird migration as well as “Species chapters” describing particular migration patterns in each included species. Moreover, the history of Czech bird ringing and overview of employed trapping methods will be included. Based on the number of recoveries the “Species chapters” will be divided into two groups. Apart from data analysis itself, the texts will comprise a short review of current knowledge and will thus attempt to place the obtained results into a broader context of migratory habits of individual species. The book is expected to be published in 2008.
