Ringing results of "Akcja Carpatica" Bird Ringing Station (S Poland) in 1998-2005

Akcja Carpatica ringing station is located at Myscowa (49°32’N 21°34’E) in the centre of the Beskid Niski Mountains (S Poland). The field station is placed in the valley of the Wisłoka River covered by: Salix spp., Prunus spinosa, Pinus sylvestris, Corylus avellana, Cornus sanguinea, Malus sylvestris, Alnus incana, Euonymus europaea etc. Akcja Carpatica has been working since 1998, that included nine seasons (8 autumn seasons and 1 spring) during 8 years.
Each year nets were located at the same places. We used 60 mist-nets and sometimes special traps for raptors. Only 0.02% of ringed birds were caught with the traps. Total number of ringed birds was 29869 of 92 different species. The highest number of ringed birds (5712) was in 2001.

The most numerous (total number in all years) species were:  Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) – 5297, Robin (Erithacus rubecula) – 5277, Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) – 3447, Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus) – 2619, Great Tit (Parus major) – 1438, Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) – 1136.
In total, nine recoveries of birds ringed elsewhere were gathered, Phylloscopus collybita (Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, Poland – one recovery for each country ), Sylvia communis (Nigeria – two recoveries), Erithacus rubecula (Slovenia), Sylvia borin (Croatia), Parus caeruleus (Russia). Number of bids ringed at Akcja Carpatica and recovered elsewhere was as follows: 13 birds from 7 species recaptured in Hungary (5), Slovenia (1), Italy (5) and Poland (2).
